Taking Reid's Ride to Puerto Rico

A group of friends, all past and present clinical laboratory employees of Massachusetts General Hospital, took their 2026 Reid's Ride to Puerto Rico.  All are long-time participants in Reid's Ride and they decided to take Reid's Ride off shore to a US territory with a tropical feel.  The thermometer at Logan Airport was frozen at 8 degrees Farenheit when they left snowy (after a one-delay) Boston.  But it was 80 degrees in San Juan.  On the first day, the group's Apple watches recorded more than 11,000 steps (about 5 miles) taken on a tour-guide exploration of old San Juan.   Later in the week they snorkled at a marine sanctuary, reminded that snorkeling from a beach is a lot more difficult than from a boat.  Fighting the waves and currents a couple hundred yards from the beach to the calmer coral cove was more taxing than any of us could recall.  A couple of us rented bikes and toured the quiet neighborhoods a few blocks from the water, but it was HOT!  The group's last stop took them to the island's interior rain forests where they swam in a cool, crystal clear natural pool fed by spectacular waterfalls.
